The Washington Post of 5 February 1918 records this on Alfred and Almina Carnarvon:


Alfred de Rothschild had been deeply interested in her [ Almina ] from her earliest childhood.  He looked on her as a sort of adopted child. Although a professing Jew and she a Christian, he was her godfather.
